Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AI Tution Guru Private Limited (“TutionGuru”, “we”, “us”), a company incorporated in India, collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use our website, apps and services (the “Service”), which we offer to users across India. Because TutionGuru is used by children, protecting young people's information is central to how we work, and we handle personal data in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”) and other applicable Indian law. Please also read our Terms of Service.

1. Children's privacy and parental consent

TutionGuru is designed for school students, many of whom are children. In line with India's DPDP Act, 2023, a child's account is created and managed with the verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian, and we do not carry out tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children. We collect only the information needed to provide the learning service, and we do not sell children's personal data. A parent/guardian can review their child's information, ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw consent at any time (see “Your rights” below).

2. Information we collect

  • Account & profile — name, email, role (student/parent), grade/board, language, and parent–child links.
  • Learning materials you upload — e.g. textbook pages, worksheets or class notes a student adds so the AI can help with them.
  • Learning activity — questions asked, quiz and homework attempts, progress and mastery signals, and interactions with the AI tutor (including voice, where used).
  • Payment information — handled by our payment providers; we receive confirmation of a transaction, not your full card details.
  • Technical data — device/browser information and basic logs needed to run and secure the Service.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide and personalise the learning experience (tutoring, quizzes, homework help, progress);
  • generate study notes and answers grounded in the student's own materials;
  • maintain accounts, process payments, and provide support;
  • keep the Service safe, prevent misuse, and meet legal obligations;
  • let a linked parent/guardian see their child's progress.

4. AI processing

To answer questions and create study notes, the content of a student's messages and uploaded materials is processed by trusted AI providers (for example, OpenAI) acting on our behalf. Uploaded materials are turned into private, paraphrased study notes for that student and are not shared with other students. Our AI providers process this content to deliver the service and, under our arrangements, do not use it to train their general models. We aim to send only what is needed to provide the feature you are using.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell personal data. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Service — such as our AI provider(s) (e.g. OpenAI), cloud hosting (e.g. Microsoft Azure), and payment processors (e.g. Razorpay, Stripe, Cashfree) — under agreements that protect your data.
  • A linked parent/guardian, who can view the connected child's learning information.
  • Authorities, where required by law or to protect rights and safety.

6. How long we keep information

We keep account and learning information for as long as the account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Uploaded original materials are retained or deleted according to our retention settings (for example, textbook pages may be deleted after they are processed into study notes, while some materials may be kept so you can re-open them). You can ask us to delete your information as described below, subject to legal requirements.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly if something goes wrong.

8. Your rights

As a Data Principal under India's DPDP Act, 2023, you (or a parent/legal guardian acting for a child) have the right to access a summary of your personal data, to seek its correction, completion, updating and erasure, to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, to withdraw consent, and to grievance redressal. To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@tutionguru.ai. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.

9. Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences (such as language or a dismissed notice). We do not use them for third-party advertising to children.

10. Measuring our own marketing

When you arrive on our website, we count the visit and record the campaign that referred you — for example, if you scanned the QR code on a school pamphlet, we record that the visit came from that pamphlet. We do this to understand which of our own efforts to reach families are worth continuing.

These are anonymous counts. We do not record your IP address, we do not collect personal data this way, and we use no third-party analytics or advertising trackers — the measurement is entirely our own. So that repeated page refreshes are not counted as separate visitors, your browser stores a randomly generated identifier; it is not derived from your device or your identity, it tells us nothing about you, and it is never linked to your account. If you go on to create an account, we record only the name of the campaign that referred you (for example, “pamphlet”) — never anything about how you browsed.

11. International transfers

We operate across several countries. Your information may be processed in a country other than your own, including by our service providers. Where we do this, we take steps to ensure your information remains protected in line with this policy and applicable law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know, and we will update the “Last updated” date above.
